This manual provides practical guidance on agroforestry: growing trees in combination with agricultural crops. It gives advice on how to select trees and crops for a healthy agroforestry system, what specific trees can offer, and how to combine them with other crops to generate profit, for family use and that help conserve and protect the environment by producing more with less water.
The main purpose of this research is to demonstrate the unexploited groundwater potential in the Sand River region, and the flow characteristics and dynamics in the river including interactions with surface water. It furthers seeks to highlight the existing groundwater dependent ecosystem and hypothesize perceived impacts with development. In general, the research seeks to establish whether sustainable groundwater utilization in support of local demand can be achieved in the Sand River region.
This report describes how the land-use map of the Mara River Basin v3 has been derived from remote sensing data. The land-use map represents the situation in 2014. It has been produced by Zheng Duan, based on ground-truth data collected in the field.
